Hello. Welcome to our new series "Coverage". In this series, I am going to explain different types of coverage that your auto insurance companies offer to you. The first lesson in the series is the big one, bodily injury liability.
What this means is when you accidentally hit someone with your car that causes harm to that person. This can range from a broken arm to death. Your insurance will pay for the emergency aid at the scene of the accident. No, I doubt it will pay for broken nails. Deal with it. Hey, it will grow back. For severe cases, it will pay the legal defense fees and the funeral for the unlucky pedestrian you ran over. I understand... it was an "accident". Tell it to the judge.
Two things you need to know. First, your insurance company will only need to pay if you are responsible. Do not take the fall for somebody else. Second, this coverage only covers human bodies and not vehicles.
After you accidentally ran over your victim, you have to pay the damages for your car out of your own pocket. You should have been more careful.Most if not all states offer a minimum amount of money that you need for bodily injury liability auto insurance. I will cover this in more detail in my states series.
Lesson Recap: The key points of this lesson are.....
1. Bodily injury liability insurance is causing accidental harm to a person in or outside a vehicle with your vehicle.
2. Do not let them make you pay for broken nails. The injury should be more severe than that.
3. Most if not all states offer a minimum coverage amount for the insurance. States will vary.

5. If it is your fault, you are screwed.
